Combine all the above in a saucepan and cook over medium heat with the lid on until the apples are cooked but still firm.
Remove from heat
Add a squeeze of lemon to taste. (You may not need lemon if using sour apples)
Add 2 tbsp dried cranberries
Place the cooked apples in an oven proof dish, cover with the crumble ( do not press it down) and bake in a preheated oven at 180•C for 40 to 45 minutes or until the crumble is slightly browned
Serve warm as is or with cream, yogurt, ice cream or a non dairy alternative
